Mind Body Dualism

i've never found dualism - the idea that the mind and the brain are two different substances with the mind being "immaterial" or "non-material" - a valid manner in which to address consciousness or any mysteries relating to it.

to show the reasons why i think it's bad metaphysics i'll use analogous reasoning to make a case for my newly made up "mystic essence".. for hundreds of years scientists have studied plants and animals all across the world.

but they still can't explain where ecosystems come from.

Watching this again, I got a chuckle watching Flodin's mannerisms right at the beginning of the piece.

As he's introducing the video, his hand gesture stiffens, and what looks like a grimace spreads across his face as he emphasizes the word "pain" in the sentence:

"Jehovah wants to safeguard his servants from the PAAAAIINNNN that results .. . . "

Is a piano inevitable?

i was at a concert last night and the presence and stature of the piano struck me.

and i thought: if the piano wasn't invented when it was, would it have been invented by someone else instead?

or if there was a world the same as our, except with a different history, would it have pianos now too or would it be modern world, similar in many respects, only without pianos?
